25 Days of Christmas Cookies

These are a pretty addition to our cookie trays. Every year the jam flavor changes, we usually use two for color variation. Haillie is in charge of picking out the flavors this year it's my homemade strawberry & Smucker's apricot.

Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp almond extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup finely chopped nuts
Favorite flavor of jam
Directions
Preheat oven to 400⁰F. Combine butter and sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Blend in almond extract. Add flour and salt; mix well. Shape level tablespoonfuls of dough into balls; roll in nuts. Place on ungreased cookie sheets; flatten slightly. Indent centers; fill with preserves or jams. Bake 10-12 minutes or just until lightly browned. Makes about 2-1/2 dozen cookies.
