Peanut Butter Oatmeal Dog Treats

Let's not forget our furbabies during the holiday season. Pumpkin is highly allergic to everything so this is a special treat for her. I made little stars for Mocha and gingerbread men for Pumpkin.

Ingredients
1 egg
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup mashed banana
1 tablespoon honey
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup oatmeal, ground
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 egg white, lightly beaten, for brushing
Directions
Preheat oven to 300 F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Stir together the egg, peanut butter, banana, and honey in a medium bowl; blend thoroughly. Stir in the flour, ground oatmeal and cinnamon; mix well. Turn dough out onto a floured board and roll to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter, place on prepared baking sheet, and brush tops with egg white and a touch of honey if desired.
Bake biscuits in preheated oven until dried and golden brown, about 30 minutes, depending on size. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.

The "C" Word

This morning was long.
This coming week feels like it will be longer.
If you are new to my blog let me introduce my Yorkie, "Little Miss Mocha Jo". When I met her four years ago she didn't even weigh half a pound. It was puppy love at first sight.

She's seen me through a deployment. Goes with me almost everywhere and never complains.

So when we first found a lump near her back leg I put off calling the vet. I was sure it would just go away, it just had to. We took her in this morning and the first thing the vet told me was she was too young for it to be cancer. Relief. Then he felt around, it didn't feel right and suggested we do a needle biopsy. A couple hours later the result came back "questionable". He suggested we send it out to a pathologist. Panic. It will be a week till we get the results back. Think positive.

So this afternoon my amazing husband, who was suppose to be leaving for bear camp, took some time to take me shopping. Retail therapy. First stop was for some peppermint schnapps for my hot chocolate tonight. Then we went into a primitive Americana shoppe for some holiday decorations.

I married an awesome man. Now he is at bear camp, I miss him and hope he is having some fun and much need guy time. Mocha is asleep in my lap. It's going to be a long week.

I know you are probably thinking "duh! Chic that site has been around for awhile. Do you live under a rock?" I have heard of the site before but really didn't check it out. So this morning as I was sipping my ice coffee, recuperating from my run and procrastinating my cleaning trip to the attic I came across a giveaway on kevinandamanda.com. But wait! I'm getting off track. While snooping around Etsy I wondered if I could find a dog sling. Don't laugh! If you follow me on FaceBook you have probably seen the photo of my 3 lb Yorkie, Mocha Jo in the tied blankie sling I made her.

She loves her blankie sling and would happily sleep all day in it if I would let her. Well Mocha is coming with us on our family vacation to Ohio. And since we will be doing a lot of hiking trails and cave exploring Christopher thought it would be a good idea if I made her a more durable and useable sling. Guess what?! I found the perfect one on Etsy. I ordered it this morning and can't wait for it to get here. I will post pictures and details ASAP!

I’m A Sicko, I know

I had this whole blog post about my over packed day, wintery weather, taxing kiddos, house remodeling and how I made up for that one lazy day. Then I did something that made my family look at me sideways, shake their heads in disbelief and request that I don't tell people we are related. Before you see the pic *you already peeked didn't you?* I have to explain about my dog. Mocha is my 3 lb Yorkie, she'll be 4 yrs old this summer. Being so little kids think they can just pick her up. This terrifies her. Whenever the girls have friends over Mocha wants me to hold her the whole time. Tonight Abby has a friend sleeping over which means Mocha keeps pawing at me to be held. If she would be happy just laying down on my lap that would be fine. But she keeps trying to climb into my arms which is making it hard to type. So I took a baby blanket, folded it half diagonally, tied it and made a sling to wear her around my neck. Within five minutes of being in it she calmed down and went to sleep. And I have my hand free and am able to type. Am I a genius or what!?
