where is my kid? day 1…

The airport was a horrible experience. Did I tell her everything she needed to know? Thirteen years of doing things for her or teaching her how to do them and now I was just sending her off on her own. She looked so little and young compared to the other girls. What kind of parents are we for letting her go. This was such a bad idea. She on the other hand was really excited. Once the whole group was there and all checked in it was time for them to go through the security check point. This was it. She really was going. *breath* It was then I realized that out of all the information I've been drumming into her head I totally left out the fact that she would have to take off her shoes and coat to go through security. This is like being naked to Haillie. *lol* She wears her shoes from the time she wakes up till her evening shower and then she still has socks on the rest of the night. It's rare we see her feet. She did fine and made it past security. *dang it* I'm proud to say I did not cry, I only got a little teary eyed.
Now her adventure begins! Her first day was not much, so I'm guessing since I have not yet received my requested "I'm here & fine Mom" text. Can you send guilt telepathically across the ocean into another country to your kiddos? She was asked to text me once nightly that "all is well". Someone is getting grounded when they get home! If things are going as planned she should have had dinner at The Prince of Wales. On the menu was Cottage Pie served with Chips, Peas and Gravy. And for dessert Chocolate Sponge Pudding and Custard. I have her dinner menu for the week and joked that I would be making the same meals here at home.
I'm missing her.

Oh! How long is she gone for? I hope she has fun and I hope the time passes quickly for you!

Kids! I can't tell you how often my kids have "forgotten" to text me when they arrived somewhere. You never stop worrying about them. Mine are grown and I still panic sometimes.

I went to Europe for 3 weeks when I was 17 and forgot to call home until I was in the airport on my way home!! This is LONG before cell phones and internet, so my parents were NOT happy! I'm sure your little princess will be much more 'text home savvy'! Bless you for letting her go!
